Five Alcohol-Free Bars You Have to Visit this Sober October

At Square Root, we’re all about creating delicious alcohol-free beverages that are made with the same quality and dedication and effort as their full strength counterparts. However, we also love going out and partying! Alcohol-free absolutely doesn’t have to mean fun-free when it comes to a night on the tiles.

That’s why, to help you out this Sober October, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite venues that champion AF drinks. These hotspots are renowned for their commitment to booze-free bangers. Whether you’re after a Square Root Non-Alcoholic Mojito to give you the lift you need to keep dancing, or an extravagantly put together mindful cocktail to leave you feeling fancy AF, they’ve got you covered!

Fugitive Motel

199 Cambridge Heath Rd, London E2 0EL

Celebrating low & no alternatives has always been a big part of the offer at Hackney’s Fugitive Motel since opening in 2019. This all-day brunch bar and kitchen has low alcohol beers, cocktails and pre-mixed drinks a plenty, including Square Root’s Non-Alcoholic G&T and Negroni Spritz. The venue also features live music nights, shows live sports and has it’s own 14ft shuffleboard, meaning there’s always plenty to do here besides sinking pints!

The Understudy

Upper Ground, London SE1 9PX

A popular spot on London’s Southbank, The Understudy Bar is the dedicated bar for The National Theatre. There’s plenty to encourage visits beyond popping in for a quick drink before a show, mind. The Understudy is something of a champion for both independently-made drinks, and low and no producers, and has it’s own dedicated Low & No Alcohol menu that features cocktails, soft drinks and a selection of low alcohol craft beers and ciders.

YADA Collective

58 Green Ln, Derby DE1 1RP

YADA Collective is a totally alcohol-free bar set in the heart of Derby city centre. YADA seeks to offer an inclusive environment for those who are sober, those who are cutting down and those who just feel like a night off from alcohol. On the drinks menu are alcohol-free versions of cocktail favourites such as the Cosmopolitan and the Dark & Stormy, plus a rotating selection of alcohol-free wines, beers and softs.

The Hide Bar

39-45 Bermondsey St, London SE1 3XF

The brainchild of Paul Matthews (founder of Alcohol-Free spirits brand Everleaf) The Hide Bar prides itself on stocking as many locally produced drinks products as possible. Nearly all of its suppliers distill, brew, ferment or produce in London, and while many drinks on the menu do contain alcohol, there are plenty of great options for those abstaining. We particularly recommend anything made with the Everleaf bittersweet aperitif!

BrewDog North Street Leeds

Crispin House, New York Rd, Leeds LS2 7PF

Head to any BrewDog bar and you’re likely to be met with some great low and no drinks. Even before expanding their own low alcohol range, the Scottish brewery championed high-quality alcohol-free drinks. Nowadays, you’ll find at least one of their AF options on draft, as well as a great selection of bottles and cans (plus Square Root softs on a dedicated shandy menu). Head to their Leeds North Street site to play on one of their three 22ft shuffleboard tables!
