The delicious combination of iced tea and lemonade has been around for centuries, as simple as it is refreshing.
First pioneered in Old Virginia in the 1870’s, the drink exploded in popularity following the St. Louis 1904 World’s Fair. Tea farm owner Richard Blechynden, inspired by the hot weather, decided to add ice to the free samples he was giving away. The drink was a roaring success; cool and refreshing in the Missouri heat, and has since become enjoyed the world over.

We’re huge fans of Good & Proper here at Square Root HQ, and have even worked together in the past on an Iced Tea exclusively for Bleecker Burger. Hence, it was a no-brainer to get Emilie on board to come up with this recipe using Good & Proper’s Rooibos and our seasonal Citrus Crush soda.

Ingredients (serves 2)
- 2 x Good & Proper Rooibos tea bags (or 2 heaped tsp Rooibos loose leaves)
- 1 x 275ml Square Root Citrus Crush Soda
- Blood orange slice to garnish
- Plenty of ice
Brewing Guide
- 2 x Rooibos tea bags (or 2 heaped tsp Rooibos loose leaves)
- 275ml freshly boiled, filtered water
- Infuse for 3-5 minutes
- Remove the leaves
Method
- Prepare your tea as per Brewing Guide above
- Set aside to cool
- Prepare two glasses with plenty of ice & the slices of blood orange
- Divide the tea between the two glasses
- Top up with the soda between the two glasses
- Give it a quick stir to mix & enjoy!
